This unit consists of three differentiated versions of the same text plus a page of related activities. The text is a good example of narrative writing as it reflects typical narrative structure and includes language devices such repetition and active nouns. The activity page includes warm up questions about a farmer's daily life, comprehension and vocabulary questions based on the text and evaluative questions to prompt higher order thinking skills. Selected answers are provided.

John Murray

John Murray graduated in 1997 with a BEd (Hons) in English and communication at the University of North Wales. He has worked extensively with primary school children from a wide variety of backgrounds, including children who have difficulties communicating with others and children whose first language is not English.
