Work on your vocabulary

Short story + activities

This unit consists of a short narrative about having an encounter with a dolphin and associated activities that focus on extending vocabulary. In the first task students are required to replace the words in bold with synonyms from the provided list. Task 2 encourages students to communicate more powerful pictures to their audience by changing some words for others and adding extra words. Students are given basic sentences to amend. An example of what is required is provided. The final activity focusses on pairs of words that are often confused e.g. bought and brought, except and accept. Students need to circle the correct option for every given sentence.
