Singular, plural and collective nouns

Short story + activities

This unit consists of a short text about monsters under the bed and associated activities that focus on singular, plural and collective nouns. In the first task, students are required to categorise proper, common, concrete and abstract nouns after reading a short definition of each. Detailed notes are provided on plural nouns and they way they are formed e.g. if a noun ends in y and there is a consonant before that y, replace the y with ies.Following these notes, students replace the bold words in the sentences with their plural form. The final task defines what a collective noun is and has a fill-the-gaps exercise for students to complete.
