Writing: Sense making skills

Readers need to understand text without having to try too hard. If understanding the text requires a lot of effort, they might give up or they might get the wrong idea about what is meant. In this unit students look at various ways they can edit their work (or someone else's work) to help their readers make sense of it. In particular, they find out how to deal with: * words that are too difficult * sentences that are too long and/or too complex.
