Debating: Lesson plan 4

Affirmative and negative team arguments

Each lesson plan in this 'Debates' series includes learning outcomes, success criteria, pre-lesson preparation notes, resources and a step-by-step learning sequence. In this lesson plan students will learn how to write affirmative and negative statements. Students will work in pairs taking turns having affirmative and negative arguments for a variety of motions to debate over. The lesson concludes with time for exploratory talk regarding the learning from the lesson, with a homework exercise to be taken away for later work.
