Reciting poetry: Lesson plan 1

Each lesson plan in this 'Poems' unit includes learning outcomes, success criteria, pre-lesson preparation notes, resources and a step-by-step learning sequence. In this lesson students will learn to use techniques that enhance reading their poem aloud. Students will practice incorporating techniques whilst reading various poems as a class and also in pairs. The lesson concludes with time for exploratory talk where students will recap their learning. A homework exercise is also provided for students to take away.
